I. Enter Data Using Sync:
A. Your First Sync Download.
The first download requests a large date range. The download time
required depends on the amount of data. If the request is too large
and the server is busy then the process might time-out.

B. Sync Download Steps.

-
TAPro contacts the site and waits for a response.
-
The performance of the download process depends on the time of day, the
number of users accessing the broker's shared server and the speed of your internet
connection. For this reason we recommend a first download early in
the tax season.
-
After the response is received, it is processed by the broker's server.
The first test is for a valid Username/Password.
-
After processing, TAPro starts a search for Cancelled Trades. The
performance of the Canceled Trades clean up depends on the total number of
transactions.
-
Such trade are saved to a file.
-
Allow the process to finish. If you are working on something else
and your system seems quiet, it might have finished and there is a buried
menu waiting for your reply. Look at the task bar. If more
than one TAPro task appears, then inspect them to see if TAPro is waiting
for your reply.
II. Import Data From a File:
A. Get TAPro Ready for a File Download.
You can download an .OFX file and import it.
We recommend that your first setup TAPro so it is ready to receive the
file. Otherwise you will need to save the file and then load it from
within TAPro.

-
Within TAPro, select "Associated File Types"
-
Select the check boxes for "Import .QIF, QFX and OFX",
this enables TAPro to directly receive the file during the download
process.
-
Select "OK"
-
Leave TAPro open so it can receive the file download.
B. Download the
File.
-
Log into your account.
-
Navigate to Account.
-
Select Penson.

Select "Investment Data Download".
Select a From: and To: date
range.
Select "Download to Money" and
follow the instructions.
C. Import the File.

D. Import and Alternative File (tab or comma
delimited)
The TAPro import utility is flexible. If you are
using Excel then save the data as "tab delimited." Then during the
import process select "Tab" as the delimiter of the data.
When you start an import select the file that you want to
import and TAPro will determine if it needs guidance. If guidance is
needed then follow the steps in the menus that appear. At the
beginning of the process create a new profile name or select an existing
profile. TAPro will attempt to reuse this profile for each import of
the same type file to the same account in TAPro.
If there is an error in your profile you may need to remove
it or during the import select the Edit check box so you can make changes.
To remove a profile select "Import Rules/Profile Manager" from the
File/Import menu.
III. Enter Data Manually:
You can manually enter trades from the Transaction Screen
by selecting the "Add" button.
